28 Days of SELF~CARE (Day 8)

28 Days of SELF-LOVE-2

It’s Wednesday.  It’s Wednesday.  It’s Wednesday –  AKA “Hump Day!”  Time to take a deep breath and access the week thus far and make plans for how we will best spend the remaining days focusing on SELF~LOVE.

In a recent conversation with my friend Sally during our sewing day, we talked about taking a “news” break.  I offered that I’ve also taken a break over the past few months.  This is particularly hard for me as I am a “news-nut” and former newspaper reporter.  I love being in the know about history, politics, national and world events, health, business, etc.

As a country and world – we are indeed in challenging times from almost every angle.  What and even people we thought we knew are being turned upside down.  Our “comfort” zones are being unmasked and cast aside.  Like so many of us, I’d begun to feel overwhelmed and weighed down by so much negativity coming out of the small boxes which are so much a part of our lives.

I decided to “save myself” and turn them down; some completely off.  The nosiness and feelings of anxiety, melancholy and general disease have been greatly reduced.  If you’re having these feelings, I encourage you to consider taking similar actions.  Think about all the wonderful things you can do with your newly discovered “free” time.  Here are a few suggestions:

  • Read a book.
  • Learn a new craft. Rediscover a long set aside craft.
  • Make new friends and/or reconnect with old ones.
  • Join a Bible Study Group.
  • Take a walk – lots of them.
  • Get involved in a community service group.
  • Take a nap.
  • Plant a garden.

The blanks are for you to fill in for your unique way to show SELF~LOVE as you looks for ways to quell the noisiness, anxiety, etc. in your life.  Let us know your choices.  I know you will look and feel better for it.  I certainly do!

More tomorrow!
